AssetBundles are files created in the Unityeditor during edit-time, which can be used later by a build of aproject at run-time. AssetBundles can contain asset files such asmodels, materials, textures and scenes. AssetBundles cannot containscripts.
An AssetBundle is a collection of assets and/or scenes from aproject saved in a compact file with the purpose of being loadedseparately to the built executable application. AssetBundles can beloaded on demand by a game or application built in Unity. Thisallows streaming and asynchronous loading of content such asmodels, textures, audio clips, or even entire scenes. AssetBundlescan be “pre-cached” and stored locally for immediate loading whenfirst running an application. The primary purpose of AssetBundles,however, is to stream content on demand from a remote location, tobe loaded into the application as necessary. AssetBundles cancontain any kind of asset type recognized by Unity, includingcustom binary data. The only exception is that script assets arenot allowed.
