GAMBIT is a software package designed to helpanalysts and designers build and mesh models for computationalfluid dynamics (CFD) and other scientific applications. GAMBITreceives user input by means of its graphical user interface (GUI).The GAMBIT GUI makes the basic steps of building, meshing, andassigning zone types to a model simple and intuitive, yet it isversatile enough to accommodate a wide range of modelingapplications.

GAMBIT can import geometry from CAD programs in various formats:PARASOLID, ACIS, STEP, or IGES and interact directly with theprograms CATIA V4 and Pro / E. Often during the import geometryproblems inconsistencies objects. GAMBIT has a built-in finding andfixing these problems, which greatly simplifies the process ofcreating the model.
GAMBIT has powerful features for creating two-dimensional andthree-dimensional computational domains directly within theprogram, ranging from construction of lines and splines, endingwith the creation of solid objects. Built specialized module G /Turbo allows you to automate the creation of geometric models ofblade machines. Different CFD problems require the construction ofvarious types of nets. GAMBIT has a powerful mesh generator thatallows to create various types of nets: a structured geksaidalnuyugrid, automatic (unstructured) and geksaidalnuyu tetraidalnuyugrid. In addition, it is possible to create the boundary layerswith combined grids. After constructing the grid, the user has theopportunity to check its quality on a variety of parameters(skewness elements, aspect ratio).

Format and Font Conventions
-Format Conventions
The GAMBIT documentation suite employs two standard formattypes.
– Graphic format
– Layout format

The graphic format defines the types of symbols that are used torepresent control elements and command buttons on the GAMBITgraphical user interface (GUI). The layout format defines thestructure of the documentation with respect to the description ofGAMBIT specification forms.

– Graphic Format
The GAMBIT GUI employs two types of components for userinteraction.
– Control elements
– Toolpad command buttons

Control elements allow you to perform operations such as executingactions and operations, choosing from among a given set of options, and inputting alphanumeric data. Toolpad command buttons allow youto perform operations such as opening specification forms andcontrolling GUI display characteristics-for example, the overalllayout of the graphics window or the orientation of the model.

The following sections describe the appearance and use of thecomponents listed above as well as the graphic format that is usedthroughout the GAMBIT documentation to represent each type ofcomponent.
